Can I use a light ballast as a power supply, I have a 1000 watt and a 400 watt?
the 400 is digital, and Im not sure how the other one works, or how they generally work. So pretty much I am assuming that instead or running it to a light, I can splice the cable, connect pos to pos, neg to neg, and I'll get an 8 amp power supply with the 1000, can anybody verify this, or give me some advice so I dont kill myself, thanks.
Its not a flourescent bllast, its for HPS or metal halide.
This is a bad idea in general because fluorescent light ballasts are very specialized (as another post said) and can be downright dangerous if used wrong. Also, in posting your question, you didn't say what you are using this for. For instance, are you charging batteries, running an electronic test bench, etc.?
