Will we Christians eventually all admit that it was our personal interpretation that denied evolution theory and not the Bible? Or is there something fundamentally different about our present denial of evolution theory and Christianity's many years of denial of a sun-centric solar system?
No. Darwinism is a failed 19th century theory conceived when scientists thought cells were little blobs of protoplasm. Now we know that even the simplest cells is programed with voluminous information, and Darwinism has no explanation for where that information came from.
In addition, the fossil record is far more complete, and the lack of transitional fossils is even more glaring than in the 19th century. It shows that species arise suddenly in their complete forms and continue or extinguish without major change.
Today, a revolutionary new theory of intelligent design is challenging Darwinism. As in all scientific revolutions, the old Darwinist view is defended dogmatically by insiders using political pressure rather than science. Eventually, however, it must fall before the facts.
