Light Stimulate Growth

Photosynthesis?
Predict what colors of light might be the most effective at stimulating plant growth.
I was given the hint that the colors are red and purple but I do not know how to explain the logic behind that. Please help!
In order to explain this phenomena, you actually need a experiment by using the spectrophotometer.Through this machine, I drew a diagram just by pinning on the numbers on my lab manual, it shows a direct way the pigment solution absorbs the different colours of lights, it also tells you which wavelength does the pigment absorbs the most. From this experiment, it shows that the violet color is the most favourable one for the pigment, followed by the orange and red. The reason why we can see the different colors is because everything actually reflects the color that the one can not absorb, thus we see the leaves to be green, and the experiment also proves this, the green light has a very very low absorption rate.
