Led Grow Lights
Do the new LED aquarium lights grow plants as well as the compact fluorescents?
I have a Marineland double bright light that was just purchased and I have a coral life freshwater. I want to know if they will work equally as well at growing plants. I haven't tried the LEDs for this yet and I have a new tank set up.
These are not mad for a high par rating but then again, a CFL isn't either. They would grow plants, espceially the lower light ones. However, since the lights are a combonation of 6000k white and blue, these lights will not bring out the color in your plants the way two good 3000k LED lamps from Lowes or Home Depot. If you you also get the marineland double bright to cast it's 6000k light, the plants would look their best and their greenest. You would get some mad growth, You would need to add co2 to get the full use of this much light.
If you do not have a co2 injector on your tank then the Marineland LED would be the most Light the plants could process, using a warmer color of light would simply bring out the green .
