Need help with light bulb dimmer energy saving project?
The question :
Global energy demand is projected to grow by 53% by 2030 amidst growing concern about escalating energy costs and global warming. Give two suggestions on how to improve your design to incorporate energy saving measures. Objectives of design will be to reduce energy costs,thus improving quality of life,with minimal impact on the environment. ( Include diagram if necessary)
My design is a bulb with a two way switch and a dimmer. I would like some ideas on how to improve the design to attain the objective of the question. It would be nice if someone can give me some websites so that I can research for my project.
I'd focus on finding an alternative lighting device to incandescent bulbs and CFLs. I'm guessing you know that incandescent bulbs are inefficient--no amount of dimming is going to change that. CFLs on the other hand, well I've yet to find one that actually dims the way I want it to.
You could try out LED light bulbs. They cost more initially, but if you're really serious with saving energy and saving money over the long run, you can't go wrong with these bulbs.
