grow light distance plants

Golden Pothos plant... Lots of distance between leaves...?
I have a Golden Pothos Vine which seems to be doing pretty well. The leaves are pretty big now and the color looks great after I moved it into jmore light a few months ago. However, I was comparing it with my mother-in-laws pothos (we cut part of her plant over a year ago and started growing ours from that) and her leaves seemed to be a lot closer together on the vine. On my plant there is a lot of distance between the leaves, and it just looks really 'spacey.' Is there any way to help the plant grow more leaves on the vines or is that just how it grows?? Thanks for the help!
It could be a matter of lighting. Spindly/spaced growth implies they're reaching harder than they should to get light.
I'd move it to a brighter spot (not direct sunlight, though) and give it a tsp or so of epsom salts.
