What is my activity level?
As you know, on Daily calorie needs calculators they ask for the activity level. I've always been quite confused on what to choose for that, so I stuck with light active.
I only run for 1 1/2 hours or more, once a week. The rest of the time I'm pretty sedentary, I spend a lot of time studying and writing, so I don't get to move much. And I'm 17.
They say Sedentary level is when you do little or no exercise, sort of like having a desk job. And they describe Light active level as doing exercises 1-3 days a week. Also, they say that teenagers need a higher amount of calories by nature, because of the growing and all that stuff. I'm not sure exactly in which group I belong. What do you think?
Light-moderately active. Running for 1.5 hours could be likened to exercising 3 days a week for 30 minutes at a time. So multiply your BMR by around 1.4 or 1.5. For example if your BMR is say 1350, multiply this by 1.4 or 1.5 to get approx 1,900-2,000 calories per day. Hope this helps.
